Today VOLTA11 – As Basel‘s renowned art fair for new and emerging art – opens its doors until 20 June 2015 at Markthalle, the iconic landmark cupola in Basel‘s city center. Founded in Basel in 2005 by dealers Kavi Gupta (Chicago), Ulrich Voges (Frankfurt), and Friedrich Loock (Berlin), VOLTA11 welcomes 69 international positions by galleries from 19 nations and 36 cities. Prospective exhibitors were encouraged to follow Nigel Tufnel‘s iconic quote from classic rockumentary This Is Spinal Tap and — in homage to VOLTA‘s eleventh Basel edition — “go to eleven!”. More than half of exhibiting galleries this year elect to present solo or dual-artist booths, echoing the fair‘s solo-only New York sibling as well as VOLTA‘s overarching mandate as a boutique and focused platform for discovery. Highlights at VOLTA11 include: Genti KoriniBatia ShaniTaiyo KimuraCarina Linge, Extrastruggle and Krištof Kintera.

This year VOLTA11 and GalleryLOG reunited again for a new series of engaging artist videos. And Here is one of them. This one is with Batia Shani:

VOLTA11 runs until 20 June 2015 at Markthalle in Basel.
