EESC Design Eleven – 2011 “European Design Award for A Sustainable Present” is addressed to design students and designers from the 27 EU Member States and European designers living abroad. Around 150 applications have already been sent from 21 countries and more are expected before the deadline on 30 May 2011. Participants should be inspired by the theme “Intergenerational solidarity in times of an ageing population” and create innovative and pertinent solutions in terms of “ageless design”. Processes of participative design (final users taking part in the design process) and/or co-design (cross-generation team-building – young and elder designers collaborations) can be used to obtain the final product.

The winning designers (1st, 2nd and 3rd prize-winners) will be informed by the EESC in writing and invited to Brussels for the awards ceremony and the opening of an exhibition of selected entries (1st prize: EUR 7 000, 2nd prize: EUR 4 000, 3rd prize: EUR 2 000).
